WHEN CAN ONE FILE FOR DIVORCE?
A person can file for divorce only after completion of 1 year of marriage based on the grounds given under the Hindu Marriage Act. In some exceptional cases, the court provides you with an option of annulment (cancellation) of marriage. Other than that you need to complete 1 year of marriage before filing a divorce.
The procedure of divorce is as follows;
S.1 One year of Marriage
S.2 Filling of Divorce Pettition (6 months mediation period)
S.3 1-2 years of Court Proceedings
