What laws provides protection against sexual harassment for employees in India?
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act of 2013 ensures this protection. If a business has 10 or more employees, the Act mandates the formation of an Internal Complaints Committee to handle sexual harassment complaints. Sexual harassment is punishable under the Indian Penal Code Section 354A with rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, or fine, or both.
