In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court has addressed the contentious issue of the National Testing Agency (NTA) awarding grace marks to 1563 candidates. The Court has mandated a retest for these students, effectively nullifying their current scores. For those unwilling to retake the exam, their results will be issued without the added grace marks, providing a resolution to a long-standing dispute.
This verdict, delivered by a bench including Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta, aims to ensure fairness by allowing candidates to prove their merit without the controversy of compensatory marks.
In related developments, the Court has also issued notices in cases brought by popular educator Alakh Pandey, known as Physics Wallah, and Abdullah Faiz. These cases have been grouped with similar matters and are set for a hearing on July 8, 2024.
This decision brings much-needed clarity and a sense of justice for the students involved, offering them a fair chance to showcase their true abilities.
