The Supreme Court Collegium has taken a significant step in strengthening the judiciary by proposing new appointments for Chief Justices in seven High Courts across India. This move addresses both current and upcoming vacancies, ensuring the continued efficiency and integrity of the judicial system.

Justice Manmohan, who currently serves as the Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, is recommended to become the Chief Justice. This appointment is in line with the Memorandum of Procedure, allowing him to lead his parent High Court.

For the Himachal Pradesh High Court, Justice Rajiv Shakdher has been nominated following the transfer of the current Chief Justice. Justice Shakdher's seniority and extensive experience make him a fitting choice for this position.

Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, a senior judge from the Delhi High Court and a member of the Scheduled Caste community, is proposed to lead the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, highlighting the Collegium's commitment to diversity and representation.

Justice G.S. Sandhawalia, the senior-most judge from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, is recommended for the Madhya Pradesh High Court. His appointment acknowledges the importance of representation from one of India's largest High Courts.

For the Kerala High Court, Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar from the Bombay High Court is nominated, while Justice K.R. Shriram, also from Bombay, is recommended for the Madras High Court.

In a notable development, Justice Tashi Rabstan is proposed to lead the Meghalaya High Court, potentially becoming the first Chief Justice from the Ladakh region. This historic nomination underscores the Collegium's efforts to promote inclusivity and regional representation.

These carefully considered recommendations aim to balance seniority, performance, and representation across India's judicial system, reinforcing the foundation of justice in the country.
