On Monday, the Ministry of Law and Justice announced the appointment of three new judges to the Gujarat High Court: Advocate Sanjeev Jayendra Thaker, Advocate Deeptendra Narayan Ray (DN Ray), and Advocate Maulik Jitendra Shelat. The appointments, recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium in August, were shared by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Twitter.
The Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices Sanjiv Khanna and BR Gavai, endorsed the candidates based on their personal and professional reputations, integrity, and legal experience.
Sanjeev Jayendra Thaker, with 31 years of legal experience, is recognized for his expertise in civil and commercial cases. Deeptendra Narayan Ray, a Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court, is known for his extensive practice and high-profile cases, while Maulik Jitendra Shelat has been noted for his positive image and competence.
These appointments reflect the government's commitment to strengthening the judiciary with capable and experienced legal professionals.
