Prayagraj, July 11, 2024. Lawyers at the Allahabad High Court continued their strike on Thursday, following the call of the High Court Bar Association, Allahabad.

The strike was initiated by the Bar Association due to concerns over judges' behavior towards lawyers and the disregard for court practices and customs.

On the second day of the strike, at 12:00 PM, the Executive Committee of the High Court Bar Association convened a meeting in the new office bearers' room. The meeting was chaired by the President and senior advocate, Mr. Anil Tiwari, and conducted by the General Secretary, Mr. Vikrant Pandey.

During the meeting, several resolutions were passed:

1. Change in Addressing Judges: Advocates will no longer address judges as "My Lord" or "Your Lordship." This decision aligns with a statement from the Chief Justice of India, who emphasized that judges should not be considered gods. The Bar Association also resolved to contact other Bar Associations across the state to address the increasing incidents of misconduct against advocates in various courts.

2. Disciplinary Actions: Advocates who have been issued show-cause notices for not complying with the strike must submit their explanations. Failure to do so will result in the termination of their Bar Association membership, stripping them of benefits such as medical aid, assistance to dependents of deceased members, and priority in the allocation of new chambers. Those blacklisted will be permanently barred from future membership. Additionally, advocates who participated in cases via video conferencing or in person during the strike will have their memberships immediately revoked.

3. Continued Strike Action: In light of the current circumstances, the Executive Committee unanimously decided to extend the strike and abstain from judicial work on July 12, 2024.

The meeting was attended by:

- Senior Vice President: Rajesh Khare
- Vice Presidents: Agnihotri Kumar Tripathi, Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, Subhash Chandra Yadav, Neeraj Tripathi, Neelam Shukla
- Joint Secretary (Administration): Sumit Kumar Srivastava
- Joint Secretary (Library): Abhijit Kumar Pandey
- Joint Secretary (Press): Puneet Kumar Shukla
- Joint Secretary (Women): Anchal Ojha
- Treasurer: Ran Vijay Singh

- Executive Members: Udisha Tripathi, Awadhesh Kumar Mishra, Abhishek Tiwari, Sachchidanand Yadav, Dinesh Yadav, Rajesh Shukla, Sarveshwar Lal Srivastava, Ved Prakash Ojha, Baldev Shukla, and Brajesh Kumar Singh 'Sengar'

This ongoing strike underscores the lawyers' commitment to addressing their grievances and striving for better treatment and respect within the judicial system.
