The Delhi High Court recently dismissed a petition aimed at disqualifying Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The court criticized the allegations as "reckless" and "unsubstantiated," emphasizing that the petition appeared driven by malafide intentions and oblique motives, making it inadmissible.

Captain Deepak Kumar, the petitioner, had accused Prime Minister Modi and others of jeopardizing national security by allegedly orchestrating a fatal Air India crash in 2018, a flight he claimed to have piloted. Justice Sachin Datta noted that these accusations were vague and lacked substantial evidence, with the overall tone of the petition suggesting ulterior motives.

The petition also sought to disqualify Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on similar grounds. Additionally, it accused the Prime Minister of providing false information during his nomination process and of being involved in the destruction of evidence related to the sale of Air India Limited, which Captain Kumar alleged resulted in the revocation of his pilot license and alterations to his service record.

The court's decision underscores the importance of substantiated claims and genuine intent in legal proceedings, highlighting the necessity for credible evidence when making serious allegations against public officials.
