The Bombay High Court has issued a stern warning, urging the public to be vigilant against fraudsters posing as judges or court officials to scam people out of money. In a recent notification, the Registrar General highlighted a worrying trend where individuals are being contacted through calls and messages, with the impersonators falsely claiming judicial authority and demanding money.

The court’s administration has seen a rise in these deceptive schemes, where fraudsters use various pretexts to solicit funds. Some even go as far as sending text messages or links, pretending to be judicial officers and asking for money directly. The High Court is taking the matter seriously, actively pursuing legal action against these scammers, and working closely with the police to put an end to such fraudulent activities.

This warning follows a similar national-level scam where a fraudster impersonated the Chief Justice of India, Dhananjaya Chandrachud, on a social media platform, asking for money under the pretense of needing ‘cab fare.’ The Supreme Court of India responded swiftly by filing a formal complaint with the Delhi police.

The Bombay High Court advises anyone who receives such suspicious calls or messages not to engage with the scammers and to report the incident immediately to law enforcement authorities. The Court emphasizes the importance of staying cautious to avoid falling victim to such scams.
